Looking for a spot to stretch your hips and back after a day scooting around the island? You’re in luck because Maui is a top destination for yoga, with dozens of studios and outdoor experiences to choose from that suit both yoga-enthusiasts and brand-new beginners.

Here are a few favorites we recommend:

  1. Afterglow Yoga

Voted “Maui’s Best Yoga Studio,” this zen spot in Wailuku is a wellness and relaxation destination. In addition to a robust schedule of various types of yoga, here you can also enjoy dance and barre classes, meditation and sound-healing sessions, and more! Afterglow Yoga is the perfect place to try out your first yoga class while vacationing. Drop-in rates are $25 per class or if you’re staying on Maui for an extended period of time, snag their 5 Class Pass for just $100. It’s not only good for 2 months, but you can use it at both Afterglow Yoga and sister studio ShaktiRize.

  1. Maui Yoga Shala

Located in a historic former train depot in Paia on Maui’s north shore, this studio has been a wellness destination for over 25 years. Not only can you get your Downward Dog on here in a variety of daily classes, pamper yourself with massage services including Lomi Lomi, a traditional Hawaiian healing practice combining local aromatherapy oils with long soothing strokes that simulate waves of the ocean flowing over the body to rejuvenate the body, mind, and soul. After your class or spa service, pop over to the shala’s healthy cafe and pick from an extensive menu of smoothies, salads, breakfast items, acai bowls, and more! Plus, stop by their sweet little boutique offering jewelry, clothing, swimwear, gifts, and more, all hand-crafted by local artisans.

  1. Island Power Yoga

If you like it hot, this studio is for you. A state-of-the-art space inside The Shops at Wailea infuses asana with infrared heat. Studies show practicing hot yoga increases the oxygen supply and blood circulation to muscle tissue, helping reduce chronic joint and muscle pain, promotes relaxation, enhances sleep, detoxifies the body, and more. Class styles include Power Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Yin, and Restorative Yoga. Insider tip: Every Wednesday 5:30pm this studio partners with Lululemon to offer a complimentary outdoor class friendly to all levels. Beginners welcome!

  1. Maui SUP Yoga

For a super-unique island experience try out floating yoga studio Maui SUP Yoga (Stand-Up Paddleboard) provides a unique opportunity to improve your focus and balance while practicing yoga on the ocean. Classes begin with a stretch and training session onshore, then grab your board and head into the calm ocean waters to enjoy a guided session of gentle yoga poses while soaking in the awe-striking scenery surrounding you. Classes last 2 hours and are offered daily and 8 am. While certainly not inexpensive, costing $165 per session, this will surely be one of the most memorable and immersive yoga experiences you’ll ever treat yourself to. Plus you’ll get some epic photos to share with friends and family back home!

  1. Maui Goat Yoga

If you’re an animal lover and craving something unconventional, how about yoga with goats?! This studio is home to a slew of friendly Nigerian Dwarf goats, who are notorious for crawling around your mat while you bend and flow. These sweet little creatures love to get up close and personal, and may even playfully hop on your back while you hold a pose. Located in the stunning Haleakala hills, Maui Goat Yoga offers daily classes with 360-degree views of the Maui coastline. This is certainly not your average yoga, and will definitely be one of the highlights of your Hawaii visit.

Whether you’re looking for a traditional yoga experience or something out of the ordinary, you can find it on the beautiful island of Maui. Adding a yoga class or several to your vacation itinerary is a surefire way to unwind even further during your island getaway.
