Looking for a unique and affordable way to dine in Maui? There’s a huge food truck culture on the island, boasting some of Hawaii’s top cuisine. Maui food trucks are some of the best in the Pacific as many are owned and operated by super-talented local chefs with access to incredible farm-fresh ingredients. Plus, it’s a fun and cheap date as the average cost for a heaping plate of deliciousness is only $18. Unlike many overpriced restaurants, they offer a laidback vibe and some of the most stunning island views to soak in while you chow down.

There are several food truck parks in Maui, all easily accessible by moped and offering a variety of different cuisines. Here are 3 we suggest visiting:

  1. Honoapiilani Food Truck Park in Kaanapali

Located across the street from the Times Market between Kaanapali and Napili, this spot is home to around 8 different food trucks, restrooms, and ample free parking. Eat at one of the few dozen picnic tables here or take your plate to the nearby Kaanapali Beach or Airport Beach (Kahekili Beach Park). Most trucks here are only open for dinner, but on occasion there’s a breakfast trailer on site serving 100% Maui- grown coffee & locally sourced baked goods.

  1. Sugar Cane Train Food Truck Park

This spot just opened in 2022, situated at the no-longer running Sugar Cane Train Station. Here you’ll find an eclectic selection of cuisines, from smoothies to wagyu beef burgers, and a Hawaiian gift shop. They have a few picnic tables with umbrellas, restrooms, and tons of parking. Some regular trucks that post up here include:

  • Kraken Coffee
  • Swagyu’s Burger and Butcher Shop
  • Linda’s Kitchen Mexican Cuisine
  • Shaka Smoothies
  • Big Don’s Pizza and Pasta
  • Shaya Fusion Cuisine

  1. Kihei Food Truck Park

This well-designed food truck park sits in a parking lot behind Azeka Shopping Center in Kihei. It’s touted as one of the favorites on the island because of its diverse selection of food, from southern bbq, to vegan, to sushi, and more! Dine under shaded areas during the day, or enjoy amazing evening outdoor dining under twinkle lights. Plus there are restrooms and handwashing stations. Here you can find one of the locals’ favorite food trucks on Maui, Kitoko a Japanese-fusion culinary gem not to be missed! Grab a bite, then hop back on your moped and take a quick ride over to picturesque Lipoa State Beach, one of the quietest and most tranquil beaches in the area.

The food truck culture is booming in Maui, with options to satisfy every craving. Not only is this a budget-friendly way to try a plethora of dishes, but also a laid-back alfresco dining experience that will truly make you feel like a local.
